Who We Are

We are an independent un-denominational Christian
Church following the model of the church in Acts 2.

We believe in no creed other than Christ and we rely on
the Bible for our authority.

Our Mission . . .
To equip disciples to change the world through irresistible
lifestyles and influential works of service which are:

Passionately committed to Jesus Christ
Biblically measured
Morally pure
Family centered
Evangelistically bold
Socially responsible
Team and small group oriented

We Believe . . .

. . . that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God who
died for our sins and arose from the dead.
1st Corinthians 15.1-8

. . . that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, “a lamp to
my feet and a light for my path.”
2nd Timothy 3.16 and Psalm 119.105

. . . that every person has worth as a creation of God, but
that, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3.23

. . . that forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life
are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and
Lord.
John 3.16

. . . that those accepting Christ should repent of sin,
confess their faith, and be immersed into Christ.
Romans 10.9 & Acts 2.38

. . . that the church is the body of Christ on earth and
exists to save the lost and spiritually guide the saved.

The Family of God at Community Christian Church is a fellowship
of people seeking to know and do the will of God. Our most urgent
desire is to follow Christ faithfully and to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit
in our corporate and personal lives.

We believe the love of God for men and women in his image is the
beginning of the story of redemption. We want to love one another
as he has loved us.

We believe the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ constitute
the core of the Good News all people need to hear. Jesus of
Nazareth suffered the penalty our sins should have brought to us.
He paid our debt to sin at the cross and was raised in glorious
triumph.

We believe that our salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus
Christ. We deserve hell, not heaven. We cannot deserve what God
has done for us through Jesus Christ. Even our deepest remorse
over our sins cannot undo the past or erase the harm already
done. Forgiveness is a divine work.

We believe that authentic faith expresses itself in repentance and
immersion in Jesus’ name. Repentance is our sincere
acknowledgement that God’s judgment against sin is just, and
water baptism is our confession of the sufficiency of the death,
burial, and resurrection of Jesus to save us from sin.

We believe that baptized believers are called to adopt a life of
discipleship that imitates Christ’s own. He is our perfect model in all
things. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we pursue all that is holy
and learn to abhor the sinful things that once appealed to us. By
the same power, we seek unity with our fellow believers, and
service to our neighbors.

We believe the role of the local church is to glorify God the Father,
the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, share Jesus through our
lives and our words, encourage individuals to grow in Jesus,
inspire a sense of belonging by sharing joys and burdens, and
reach out with loving support to people in need.

God has given us the vision to be a church in the Barton County area that is: a biblically functioning, Acts 2 community of believers,
relevant to this age and this culture, reaching lost people with the gospel, assimilating them into the church family, equipping them to
a Godly life and good works.

Our vision is to be a church where people can hold their heads high because they have found hope, grace, freedom, and
forgiveness—where they can be part of a family that loves them and where they can see a future that is indeed bright.

We envision the day when this church is caring for the poor and inviting them into our family, a church that welcomes all people
regardless of ethnicity, and a church where all people—whether children, teenagers, college students, singles, married, middle-aged
or gray-headed folks—will know there is a place for them in the body of Christ and that they matter to God.

We want to be a church where people can recognize the dreams God has for them and where they are using their God-given gifts for
His praise and glory.

We want to be a church filled with life and love, made up of people from all walks of life who look forward to worship; a church through
whom God will move so powerfully that the number of lives changed will be measurable only through divine accounting.

We believe this is the kind of church God wants and we are committed to being His servants so that these dreams will become reality.
Our Vision
The Five Finger Exercise
4.  WE BAPTIZE BY IMMERSION FOR THE
FORGIVENESS OF SIN AND THE GIFT OF THE HOLY
SPIRIT -We know, of course, that we need much teaching
on the subject of baptism. The denominational world has
wrecked the minds of its members on the subject of
baptism. Move through the Bible from Matthew 28:18-20,
and the church in the Book of Acts preached and obeyed
it. We do not apologize nor soften our stand on what the
Bible says about baptism. It is by immersion and it is for
the forgiveness of sin. It is not an option. The Bible relates
baptism to the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38), the putting
on of Christ (Galatians 3:27), and to salvation (Mark
16:16).  God then abides in the Christian through the Holy
Spirit who comes at baptism. What makes us unique? We
baptize by immersion for the forgiveness of sin and the gift
of the Holy Spirit.

5. WE OBSERVE THE LORD'S SUPPER EVERY LORD'S
DAY - How foreign this is to most churches today. The
weekly observance of communion is taught in the New
Testament. Acts 2:42 says, "They devoted themselves to
the apostle's teaching and to the fellowship, to the
breaking of bread and to prayer." Acts 20:7 tells us that
"On the first day of the week we came together to break
bread..." There is also much teaching in the epistles on
the subject. Plus, our Lord said, "Do this in remembrance
of Me."

 -
local congregations governed by a religious hierarchy. We
believe that Christ is the Head of His church and each local
congregation governs itself under Christ and His Word, the
Bible. This has great appeal. There is much unrest in the
denominational world because of decisions that are being
made by "those in charge" which run contrary to the beliefs
of their members, especially on social issues like abortion
and homosexuality. Jesus said in John 8:32, "Then you will
know the truth and the truth will set you free." Being
un-denominational preserves our freedom in Jesus Christ. It
allows us to chart our own course, using the Divine road
map, the Bible. Yes, we are un-denominational.

2. THE BIBLE IS OUR TEXT BOOK - Alexander Campbell
said, "The Bible alone is the Bible only, in word and deed, in
profession and practice; and this alone can reform the
world and save the church." We are a Bible church. P.H.
Welshimer who wrote in his timeless tract, "Facts
Concerning the New Testament Church" that "On non
essentials we admit the largest liberty; on the essentials we
appeal to the New Testament. Where the Bible speaks, we
speak; where the Bible is silent, we are silent."

Our world really wants to know what God is saying. Can we
build the Lord's church on the meat of His Word? Yes! The
cry is still, "Preach the Word; be prepared in season and
out of season." People are looking for a church where the
Bible is taught and preached, exciting, and relevant. It is the
Word of God that changes lives! "For you have been born
again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through
the living and enduring word of God" 1 Peter 1:23. Yes, the
Bible is our textbook.

3. WE ARE CHRISTIANS ONLY - We wear the name
"Christian" which identifies us as "belonging to Christ." We
are not ABC or XYZ Christians, but Christians only. We
preface the name with no other. We are neither Catholic
nor Protestant. Acts 11:26 teaches, "The disciples were first
called Christians at Antioch." It is like a breath of fresh air to
know that it is possible to be just a Christian. Yes, we are
Christians only.
